Dragon Kingdom
Chapter 6
Sunlight shined in Ryu's closed eyes. He tried to block out the sunlight with his claw. Finding it no use he growled and slowly got up to head out. It was the day of Kiiro's funeral and the start of his training.
Ryu walked out to where the funeral would be. There was a short row of dragons on the right side of a path and the same for the left. The the path was clear for Kiiro to be burned. Kiiro once told Ryu that they burned the body's of fallen dragons so that their ash would spread across the kingdom. He also said that burying the dead body's of dragons would dishonor them, which is why they are burned. Now the same will be done for Kiiro.
Two huge dragons carried a casket made of leaves and branches that had Kiiro's body in it down the path. As the dragons passed by, the ones in the rows bowed their heads. Slowly the dragons set the casket on a huge bolder with a flat top. Then, they let out a steady stream of fire onto it. The dragons in the row kept their heads down as the stench of charred flesh flooded the area. Then, after the body was burnt some dragons picked out the bones from the ash to store them away. They had to do that now cause the raidori use their bones to make armor. The dragon and raidori are at war now for some reason. The Dragon Lord just said one day the raidori were going to attack and the dragons attack first.
After the funeral, Ryu was walking to Kindor's cave when he heard two dragons talking. He stopped to hear what they were saying.
Hey, do you think that the raidori killed him? asked one dragon.
They couldn't have. If they did they would have taken the body, remember. replied the other.
Yeah, but... At this point Ryu left. He didn't want to hear anything else, none of this raidori nonsense, nothing about Kiiro,... nothing about Groshin.
When Ryu got to the cave, Kindor was there waiting for him.
Ah, Ryu, there you are. Said Kindor as Ryu walk up to him. We shall start now.
Wait, wait, wait! Shouted Ryu, What do I do?!
Simple, Dodge my fire.
That's ALL! sighed Ryu, glad it was easy. Well thats not so-
GO! Yelled Kindor as he started shooting fire at Ryu!
WOAH! Ryu jumped to the side as the flame rushed toward him. That was CLOSE! said Ryu. As soon as he said that, he saw ANOTHER flame coming his way! He jumped again, but this time his foot got hit. ARRGGG He screamed! He clutched the foot that was burnt.
Hmph, pitiful. That was my weakest flame too. growled Kindor as he walked over to Ryu. He looked down at Ryu and gruffed Get up.
Ryu just growled as he slowly got up, careful not to put too much pressure on the burnt foot. He then shot a glare toward Kindor. You could've given me a LITTLE warning!
At this Kindor smirked, Heh, a Dragon Lord must always be ready.
HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU!!!!! I DON'T WANT TO BE A DRAGON LORD!!!! Ryu yelled at Kindor!
And how many times do I tell YOU that you have no choice! Kindor yelled back. Now, let's get back to training.
Grrr... fine. Growled Ryu.
They started again and after a few minutes Ryu got the hang of it. Until Kindor changed things up a bit that is.
Well, this isn't so bad said Ryu as he dodged another flame. It was getting easier and despite Ryu's burnt foot, he dodged pretty well. But then Ryu saw Kindor smirk out of the corner of his eye. As soon as Ryu dodged the next flame, Kindor appeared next to him! Next thing Ryu knew was that he got knocked against a wall. WHAT WAS THAT FOR! He yelled! FIRST YOU BURN MY LEG AND NOW YOU ALMOST BROKE MY RIBS! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU!
Kindor just laughed. Nothing is wrong with ME! You're just too SLOW! A good Dragon Lord always has the best reaction time!
Ryu just sighed and got back up. No use arguing.
Ryu was getting better at dodging both the flames and Kindor's claws. Still, he would get either hit or burnt, or even BOTH! They've been at it for hours! Ryu's movement was starting to lag and his muscles starting to give out.
Kindor then looked at the sky and saw the sun was setting. He grumbled and said, It's getting late, I guess we should stop. Run along, Ryu.
'Finally!' Thought Ryu. He was so tired, he could barely think! I'm going home. He said as he started to drag his feet toward his cave.
Ryu looked around at everything as he went home. He saw some dragons coming out of a underground cave, they probably were mining metals or something, it hurt to think. Then he saw a small pond. Looking in it he saw that he was covered in bruises, scratches, and burns. He sighed and continued to walk home. The cave wasn't too far.
Ryu was panting by the time he got to the cave. He collapsed as soon as he stepped into it! Closing his eyes, he soon fell asleep.
Dragon Lord! Yelled Buruu, rushing into Kindor's cave.
What!? Kindor sneered. He just was getting ready to sleep.
We still haven't found that burgundy dragon! No matter what we do we can't find him!
Keep looking! We MUST find him! He saw you and me kill Kiiro and that black dragon!
About that, I think Ryu's catching on to me. Yesterday he hit me and said I killed Kiiro and 'Groshin'. Said Buruu. What if he figures out more and tells others!
SHUT UP!!! Yelled Kindor! Why do you THINK I'm training Ryu so early!? Training him when he's this young will make him so exhausted he won't have time to ponder on it! UnderSTAND!
Errr, yes Dragon Lord.
Now, find that burgundy dragon and kill him!
